Chunk is now getting to the age where he can play simple board games, and I'm so happy about this because some of my best childhood memories are of me and the family spending rainy afternoons playing Monopoly, Buck-A-Roo, Scrabble and even card games like rummy.
We were sent Dobble this week, which is a 5-games-in-1 card game, and there's also a version for children over the age of 4, called Dobble Kids.
The object of the game is to match the identical symbols between cards which contain quite a few objects to make it more of a challenge. Each card is unique to make it extra difficult, and the cards are dealt at speed, so it really tests your hand-eye coordination, visual perception and concentration skills!
Dobble Kids has the same idea, but the cards only contain images of animals to make it simpler for younger children.
Chunk loved trying to pair the animals up, and due to his age we didn't do it as fast as you would with older kids, so we also managed to spend time identifying the different animals and guessing the sounds they make.
The Dobble games can have up to 8 players, but I would advise keeping it to just two or three for the younger children initially so they have a chance to understand the game and avoid becoming too impatient waiting for their turn!
In the lead up to Christmas this is a perfect game for the day as you can get all of the family involved and away from the TV!
I can see my family playing this for hours so it's already in my Christmas Eve box!
